The Niagara Region (Niagara-on-the-Lake and Niagara Falls in particular) is rich in
the history of wine and romance. It seems only fitting therefore, that the artwork of the region reflect this tradition
in a lush blending of acrylic and watercolour paints and a richness of detail.
Born and raised in Niagara, this self-taught
artist has been painting all of his life. What started as a childhood passion has grown into success painting for the
corporate world. Corporate commissions might seem the natural choice for this M.B.A. graduate, yet his blend of colour,
style, artistry and eye for detail are equally at home in executive boardrooms, galleries or private collections.
Wildlife and nature, especially the
natural beauty of the Niagara area, are at the heart of his subject matter. His paintings are in watercolour, acrylic
or mixed media.
It's not uncommon to see Carman walking
through various vineyards with sketchbook and camera in hand. Unlike most painters, Carman's paintings are as likely
to be found hanging in the galleries and shops of Niagara's finest wineries as they are to be found in traditional art
galleries.
Although he hopes to one day make more
time to enjoy the quiet passion, Carman's painting career is but a hobby with rarely more than one painting produced each
year. The most recent group of paintings -the "Niagara Vineyard's" series, highlight the subjects
which have made Niagara famous - romance and wine. The third painitng in the series will be released this year
to both gallery and winery viewing.
